April Daze

On first hearing this song, many people think it’s about a girl. It’s actually about the month. April on the east coast of Australia brings with it the most perfect weather. This was written in the city of Brisbane, where the summer can be particularly brutal. It all cools down after March when “April comes and eases my hurt”. The temperature returns to normal and the sun is welcome as it “soaks up my bones”. This was always a big hit with crowds with it’s infectious groove, tempo changes and soaring solos. A great song for the band to jam on too! – Stevie J

APRIL DAZE

Stevie J Mayer

One, two, three…

There’s not enough April days in my life
I need some more to soothe my head
The sun soaks up my bones and my strife
And there’s nothing, like an April day in bed
Mmm…

There’s too much city smog in my lungs
I’m sick and tired of breathing dirt
And just as I’m about to pull out the plug
April comes and eases my hurt

Tell me about it…

[ INSTRUMENTAL ]

And now the autumn leaves are falling
A brutal summer fades away
And soon the winter will be calling
But until then we’ve got these April days

Ooh yeah, come on, sing it with me…

Hey April, hey April
Don’t leave me, don’t go (don’t go)

Hey April, hey April
Don’t leave me, don’t go (don’t go)

Hey April, hey April
Don’t leave me, and don’t you go
‘Cos there’s nothing, no nothing
Like an April day in bed
