Good Luck Bad Luck

Based on the book The Song Of The Bird by Anthony B De Mello. This classic little book is choc full of wise personal growth and spiritual stories. One of which tells the story of a farmer whose son is drafted to war. All the villagers gather round to tell him what bad luck it was. The father simply replies; “Good luck bad luck, who knows?” From there it takes a series of twists and turns and each time the fathers response is exactly the same. If you enjoy reading real wisdom, this is a must read! It affected me so much, I was inspired to write this song after reading that little story. – Stevie J

PS: Love the last minute addition of a banjo to this song!

GOOD LUCK BAD LUCK

Stevie J Mayer

Bad luck has come around to see me once again
Good luck just left me when I thought she was my friend
Just about the time we was gettin’ on just fine
Her sister Bad would always come around
Fate has sent me here she’d say, so jump into my bed
And we’ll have kids and send them on their way
Yeah oh…

Good luck, bad luck
Who can tell the wind which way to blow?
Good luck, bad luck
Good luck bad luck who knows?
Yeah good luck bad luck who knows?

Good love comes in many flavours and designs
Bad love has many faces she don’t advertise
We come into this world like a moth into a flame
Hell I would laugh if it wasn’t so insane
But then again I’ve heard laughter is a magic word
And isn’t laughter what this life is all about?
Yeah oh…

Good luck, bad luck
Who can tell the wind which way to blow?
Good luck, bad luck
Good luck bad luck who knows?
Yeah good luck bad luck who knows?

[INSTRUMENTAL]

There’s some who say that life is so unkind
Poor me poor you no wonder they don’t shine
Woh…

Good luck, bad luck
Who can tell the wind which way to blow?
Good luck, bad luck
Yeah good luck bad luck
Come on…

Good luck, bad luck
Who can tell the river which way to flow?
Yeah good luck, bad luck
Good luck bad luck who knows?
Good luck bad luck who knows?
Yeah good luck bad luck who knows?
