See You All In Hell

A series of weird little short stories all in one song. Hard to believe, but they’re all true life experiences of this songwriter! Some people have said this is a song in the style Paul Kelly. Not sure if it lives up to such high praise, I’ll leave that up to the listener. – Stevie J

SEE YOU ALL IN HELL

Stevie J Mayer

I’ve had my hair cut in the dark
But that’s not the dumbest thing I’ve done
I’ve been known to sit alone just waiting by the phone
Hoping for some kind of spark

I’ve struck wet matches in the rain
And fought men twice the size of me
I caught the wrong train to Paris, with no currency
And had to sleep out by the Seine

And I’ve been known to fall in love
So many times without reward
But then I’ve broken hearts as well
I guess I’ll see them all in hell

And I’ve walked with gods upon this earth
But since discovered they were men
And I get to Sydney when I can
Nearly drowned in Manly Dam
So I know what life is worth

Life is worth what you’re prepared to pay
And not a red cent less or more
When it’s your time to pay you’ll know this well
And I’ll see you all in hell

Good friends are hard to find
But you soon learn which ones are real
Their true colors start to shine
While the others crack & peel
So it’s them you leave behind

But you won’t have to leave alone, no
There’s plenty more like you out there
Answer those who’d have your soul to sell
With, I’ll see you all in hell

And do you know what life’s about
Or are you dying by degrees
Has your forest turned to trees
The journey bent your knees
So you learned to live without

Life’s about what you’re prepared to pay
And not a red cent less or more
Now move along the carousel
And I’ll see you all in hell

If you don’t like the cold it’s just as well
‘Cos you won’t feel the cold in hell
